What do you want to be when you grow up?
Working for a fashion magazine and the mother of a french bulldog.

What’s a typical day like as an intern at RD Thomas?
Every day is different. Some days I am doing research and others I get to sit in on meetings or work on projects. There is a lot of room for exploration, and we are given time to do things such as write blog posts, do research, or look online for upcoming trends.

How did you hear about this internship opportunity and what steps did you take to get here?
Tyler told me that they were hiring spring interns. With my graduation date approaching I was seeking more real world experience. I did some research on RD Thomas, and was super interested. I applied for the internship and came in for an interview the next day. Now here I am!

How is this internship different from how you expected it would be? Or is it playing out exactly as you thought?
It is different than what I thought. It’s not so much what you would think of a typical intern to be doing. The employees have been instrumental in allowing me to learn from them by letting me ask a million questions. I’m also given time to work on things I’m interested in such as researching certain advertising topics and learning more about the creative side of advertising.

What are you hoping to learn while interning at RD Thomas?
As a marketing major, I came in with minimal advertising knowledge. I’m hoping to learn all the ins and outs of the world of advertising and learn how an agency operates.

What’s the greatest lesson you’ve learned at RD Thomas?
Not being afraid to take initiative.

What is the strangest assignment you’ve been given?
If by strange you mean unexpected and fun, it was going to buy some of the props for the ClearTalk Wireless Valentine’s Day commercial! I got to pick out the balloons, cakes and teddy bears which were later destroyed in the video.

What is the most fun assignment you’ve been given?
My Favorite Ads Ever blog. It was exciting to explore all the old ads I hadn’t seen in years, discover new ones, and get the opportunity to connect with them on a different level.

What is the worst assignment you’ve been given?
I haven’t been given any bad assignments! All of them have been engaging and I have learned something different from each one.

What do you do for creative inspiration?
Pinterest is my go to source. If I have an idea and don’t know where to go with it I like to bounce my ideas off people and see where it goes.

What was/is your favorite class at college?
Leadership Ethics. It was interesting to hear everyone’s opinions and get to debate over recent controversies about what was going on in the world; especially because I took it during the months leading up to the presidential election.

Which class has proven to be most beneficial in regards to your internship responsibilities?
Consumer Behavior. In this class we got to do simulations where we chose a product and ran a whole marketing campaign for it while competing with other teams of classmates.

Which advertising/graphic design project are you most proud of?
Ask me again in a couple of years!

When you’re at a buffet, how many trays of food do you start off with?
Starting? At least two. Ending? That’s whole other story.

Pandora or Spotify?

Who would you let punch you directly in the face?
Kanye West. *All hail Yeezus*

What are you secretly good at?
Knowing the words to every rap song.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A vanilla latte, my pug, and a walk on the beach.

Favorite current TV show?

What was the last movie you watched?
The Hangover. Alan is my spirit animal.

Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I’m from Missouri??

What was the last picture you took on your phone?
My pug, Melvin.
